Do you know which website holds the largest repository of user-generated Documents, PDFs, PPTs and eBooks?
Yes, it’s Scribd.com.
Scribd’s big vision is to become the Netflix of Documents, which means, in coming times, you will be able to read majority of digital documents on this website.
But since Scribd is a proprietary service, they won’t offer you their entire repository for free. At best, you can do barter, i.e. you upload a quality document to Scribd and in exchange, you can download a document from the site, Easy, right?
But, what if I tell that there are ways with which you can get unlimited access to the entire Scribd repository.
You do want to get unlimited access to Scribd.com, right?
If your answer to the above question was a big frickin’ Yes! Then I make a sweeping declaration: With this blog post today, I will teach how you to download unlimited number of documents from Scribd. For FREE!
You know, I sometimes feel that whatever I am doing is wrong. That somehow, by writing these technology tutorials, I am stealing money from big companies like Scribd, that are actually providing really high quality services on the web.
In some ways, it’s true! But there’s a bright side to it.
You know millions of computers in the world run pirated copy of Windows. And when Bill Gates was asked about it, he said, that: Yes, piracy hurts our revenues and we can stop it easily, but that would mean that millions of students in countries like India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc. won’t be able to access our software anymore.
Same thing’s true for you!
If you’re downloading educational documents, documents that you will use to educate yourself, then I don’t think there’s anything wrong!
“It’s easier for our software to compete when there’s piracy than when there is not.” ~ Bill Gates [Click to Tweet]
You can, and should freely use Scribd download software and Scribd download scripts.
Okay! So, the time is right. We’ll now begin materializing our desires into action. I will show 2 Ways, broken down into easily executable steps that you can use to Download Documents from Scribd.com.
The Step by Step Procedure
Note: Each step of each process is supplemented with a screenshot. The picture will help you execute the steps with precision and accuracy. To make this web page load faster, I am providing links beside each step. Clicking on this link will take you to the screenshot.
Process 1: Download Documents from Scribd.com by tweaking some code
Step 1 – Open your favourite web browser and type Scribd.com in the address bar. Press Enter.
Step 2 [Refer Screenshot] – Search for the document you want and open it.
Step 3 [Refer Screenshot] – Right-click anywhere on the page and click view page source.
Step 4 [Refer Screenshot] – Search for access_key, once you find it copy it to some place.
Step 5 [Refer Screenshot] – Get the document id of the document that you want to download using this free Scribd downloader.
Step 6 – Replace access_key and document_id in the following URL.
Step 7 [Refer Screenshot] – Copy this modified URL. Open a new tab. Paste this into the address bar and hit enter.
Step 8 [Refer Screenshot] – Let the document load. Once it is completely loaded, click on the print button and then save as PDF.
That’s it! The document will be downloaded as a PDF file on your computer.
Note: This method may not work for downloading larger files i.e. the ones which have size in tens of MBs, because after loading the file for a file, the connection to Scribd’s server times out.
Process 2: Download Scribd Documents by using a Scribd download online
Note: This method only works when you’re downloading Documents from Scribd, and not books. I have personally tested this online Scribd downloader and it working!
- If you have the URL of the document, jump to Step 6. You can download from scribd without logging in. You can download from Scribd without uploading.
- If not, then follow the steps starting from Step No. 1.
Step 1 – Go to URL: http://scribd.com/browse
Step 2 [Refer Screenshot] – Type in some keyword phrase that is similar to the content that you want to download. Click on “All Search Results.”
For example, I am looking for some documents that can teach me about “Network Topologies.” So that’s my keyword.
Step 3 [Refer Screenshot] – Select documents from the tabs.
Step 4 – Search for the document and click on it.
Step 5 [Refer Screenshot] – Copy the URL of the documents and note it down somewhere.
Step 6 – Go to URL: http://pdfdownloader.lain.in/
Step 7 [Refer Screenshot] – At the bottom of the page, click “I Agree.”
Step 8 [Refer Screenshot] – Enter the URL in the box provided and hit the button besides it. Let the Scribd downloader script run.
Step 9 [Refer Screenshot] – Wait for the download page to load and look for what it says at the top of the page. It should say: “Your download is ready!”
If you didn’t see this message, then the Scribd downloader script failed, which means, the file you’re trying to download is large. Connection time-out!
Step 10 [Refer Screenshot] – Go at the bottom of the page and click the first link.
Step 11 [Refer Screenshot] – It’s an advertising based cloak link. Wait for the site to load and another 5 seconds. Once Skip ad button becomes active, click it.
This advertising website will try to redirect you to several other sites, but use the back button and try again and again.
Step 12 – This will take you to another advertising based cloak link. Do the same as Step 11.
Step 13 [Refer Screenshot] – That’s! Finally, you will see your Scribd document hosted on Box.com and a bright blue download link. Click it and the document will download to your computer.
I hope these download from scribd hacks worked for you and you were able to download from scribd online.
